Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Arizona
Homeopathic and Integrative Medical Association?
The Arizona Homeopathic and
Integrative Medical Association (AHIMA) is a 25-year-old state association
representing licensed homeopathic and integrative medical physicians both
in Arizona and outside the State.
How are Arizona homeopathic physicians
licensed?
Homeopathic medical physicians are licensed by the Arizona
Board of Homeopathic Medical Examiners which was established by the State
legislature 25 years ago.
Why is a Board of Homeopathic Medical Examiners
necessary?
The
Board supports through licensing a legitimacy of the profession of
homeopathic medicine and in so doing provides a choice in healthcare for
Arizonanas. Arizona is one of only three states in the nation to license

either a MD or DO.

• Classical homeopathy •
Acupuncture • Chelation • Orthomolecular
Medicine • Neuromuscular Integration •
Nutrition • Regular Pharmaceutical
Medicine
What is
the purpose of AHIMA?
The purpose of AHIMA is three-fold:
•
to inform and educate Arizonans — and others across our country — that
homeopathic medicine is a vital, proven choice in
healthcare
• to work with and support the Arizona
Board of Homeopathic Medical Examiners and to lobby, as appropriate, on
behalf of homeopathy and the Board before Arizona
legislators.
• to provide an educational forum,
primarily through monthly meetings, for AHIMA members and other
homeopathic physicians to discuss shared ideas and
practices.
How many
homeopathic and integrative doctors are
members of AHIMA?
There are 72 homeopathic doctors in AHIMA.
What is the basic
tenet of homeopathic medicine?
A. Homeopathic medical care combines the best of
allopathic/osteopathic medicine and homeopathic, integrative, holistic
medicine, which focus on the natural healing systems, to provide the most
complete medical care available today.
Will my insurance pay for my visits to a homeopathic
doctor?
At this
time, visits to a homeopathic doctor – for the most part -- are not be
covered by major medical carriers. However, the homeopathic medical
community is working hard to change this.
If I find homeopathic therapies that work
for me, can I continue to see my allopathic doctor as well or must I
choose to be treated by one doctor or the other?
It is common for homeopathic
medical patients to also have an allopathic medical doctor. Medical
therapies and treatments should complement one another.
